Many people are worried that elevators may suddenly fall during operation, but in fact, "elevator falling" is not really a falling experience.
There are generally two situations when an elevator falls:
Emergency stop during elevator operation: The safety circuit or door lock circuit is disconnected during operation, causing the elevator to stop. Passengers feel numb in their legs, which is actually caused by the emergency stop of the elevator.
If there is a malfunction during the operation of the elevator, it will automatically return to the base station for reset, which is commonly misunderstood as "elevator falling". The probability of this happening is almost the same as the probability of buying a lottery ticket worth 5 million.
Is the elevator suddenly falling due to a broken steel wire rope?
Some online articles explain that "the sudden drop of an elevator in general is caused by the breakage of the steel wire rope that pulls the elevator.".
In fact, the steel wire ropes of elevators are not so fragile. The elevator cars are all pulled by steel wire ropes, and the larger the load capacity, the more steel wire ropes there are. For elevators in general residential buildings, there are at least 3 steel wire ropes, each wire rope has about 10 small steel strands, and each steel strand has 10 steel wires. In principle, as long as one strand is broken, all steel wire ropes need to be replaced.
In theory, a steel wire rope can withstand all the gravity of an elevator car. So there's only one left, so there's no need to worry about the elevator car falling. Moreover, the probability of all steel wire ropes breaking is really very small.
Trapped in the elevator, open the door for self rescue?
Opening the door for self rescue is equivalent to finding a short circuit on your own!
In addition to calling for rescue, call the elevator maintenance company's phone number, press the alarm button inside the elevator, and don't try to open the door for self rescue. There are already many examples of self rescue failures leading to casualties, so don't go to the next one.
Trapped in an elevator and suffocated to death?
The elevator car is not an enclosed space and there is no risk of suffocation
According to an article, "If you are trapped in an elevator, you should first calm down because in the limited space of the elevator, the amount of oxygen is also limited, and the body consumes less oxygen when calm. Therefore, try to maintain calmness as much as possible to prevent the trapped person from suffocating due to lack of oxygen in a short period of time."
National standard requirements for elevator ventilation
According to the relevant provisions of the national standard GB7588-2003 Safety Code for Elevator Manufacturing and Installation:
Ventilation of shaft 5.2.3
The shaft should be properly ventilated and cannot be used for ventilation in non elevator rooms.
Note: In the absence of relevant specifications or standards, it is recommended that the ventilation area at the top of the shaft be at least 1% of the cross-sectional area of the shaft.
8.16 Ventilation
8.16.1 A car without a perforated door should have ventilation holes in its upper and lower parts.
8.16.2 The effective area of the ventilation holes located at the upper and lower parts of the elevator car shall not be less than 1% of the effective area of the elevator car. The gap around the car door can be considered when calculating the ventilation hole area, but it should not exceed 50% of the required effective area.
8.16.3 Ventilation holes should be set up in the following way: using a hard straight rod with a diameter of 10mm, it is impossible to pass through the ventilation hole from inside the car through the car wall.
In fact, elevator cars are not enclosed spaces and there is no risk of suffocation. However, it is still important to remain calm.
Do you need to quickly press the buttons on each floor when the elevator falls?
At this time, the elevator is malfunctioning and cannot press the floor!
If the elevator is running and the floor buttons are functional, it means the elevator is not damaged at all.
If the elevator malfunctions, it will automatically return to the base station for reset. At this time, pressing each floor once does not have much effect. Some elevators will level the floor nearby and open the door, while most elevators will return to the base station for reset.
At this time, it is generally not possible to press the floor.
Try to squat with your back against the wall when the elevator falls freely?
If it is a free fall, any posture is useless; If it's just an abnormal decrease, doing so can buffer and prevent joint dislocation.
Jumping up immediately before the elevator falls to the ground can prevent death?
Firstly, you cannot jump because you need to overcome the gravity of the elevator falling down;
Secondly, even if you jump up, you will eventually land;
Thirdly, even if there is a glimmer of hope in theoretical calculations, a practical question is: how to know when to jump?
In the event of an elevator losing control and falling (free fall), regardless of whether you can jump or not, you are basically dead.
Is a escalator safer than an elevator?
Escalators are more prone to accidents!!!
Compared to elevators, escalators are more prone to accidents, so be more careful when using escalators.
Once you have a good grasp of the pedal, go up, and when you're close, go down;
Ladies, please pay attention to long hair and skirt hem;
Children should pay attention to rubber foam shoes.
These bad habits must be changed! Change it! Change it!
When the elevator door is closing, use your hands, feet, etc. to prevent it from closing.
When the elevator door is not closed, stretch out your hands and feet, probe your head and head.
Place the items carried in the gaps to prevent the elevator door from closing.
Press the button repeatedly or press each layer once.
When taking the elevator, use your hands to pry at the elevator door.
During operation, lean against the elevator door.
Smoking, discarding cigarette butts, or using open flames in the elevator.
Use your hands to pry open the elevator door before it opens.
Reverse, climb, play, lean or compete.
Put the child into a cart or shopping cart and take the elevator.
When the escalator stops running, it should be used as a staircase.
Crouch and sit on the step pedal, with a carry on bag placed on the step pedal or handrail.
Stay for a long time at the entrance and exit of the escalator.
